OC Din Din a Go Go

Wednesday night? Then it’s time for Food Trucks in Orange County! Yep, the twitter-fueled food frenzy is rocking at the Irvine Lanes / Boomers lot off Michaelson in Irvine.

In attendance tonight were a couple new trucks and a few familiar favorites. Started off with a Garden Grove beef taco from Dos Chinos. I think they marinade the beef in a Korean sauce; giving the taco a really distinct flavor. With a squeeze of lime over the top – these things are delicious! (I ended up grabbing a burrito to go on my way out!)

Next up we tried a tasting truck run by Chef Joe Youkhan. Instead of going for an entree, I opted for some macaroni and cheese bites. They were very rich & creamy with a crispy shell and definitely hit the mark on the money. Share ’em with friends – one and a half (a serving is 3) was plenty.

Finally we scoped out The Lime Truck. The Carnitas Fries caught my eye – and they didn’t disappoint. The fries are fully loaded with carnitas, guacamole, cabbage, corn, beans, and sour cream. It’s a huge serving and definitely requires a seat when you eat ’em.

All in all – great night at the food trucks! Was disappointed a couple trucks weren’t in attendance: The Burnt Truck (I want at those fried chicken sliders again!) and Tapa Boy. Maybe next week!

Kayaking Sunset Harbor

I picked up kayaking as a hobby last summer thanks to my friend Jill. Her and Her running team would hit Sunset Beach a few times over August, and I got to come along.

Sunset Harbor is a great place to pick up kayaking. The water is about as peaceful as you can ask for, and except for the main channel, you’ll really never encounter any wakes or chop that’ll keep you on edge.
